STARS OF THE SEASON 2003/4

Corinthian enjoyed great success with their inaugural retrospective series release so brought it back as we see another 16 players who excelled during the season, released as ProStars Series 25 Stars Of The Season 2003/4

With so many superb and new sculpts in this series it is hard to know where to start, so i am going for my personal favourite, Adriano! The Brazilian power forward was reaching the heights of his ability and becoming almost unplayable. He began the 2003/04 season at Parma and scored 8 goals in 9 appearances before injury stopped him, he moved in January to Inter Milan and scored 9 goals in in 16 league games, with Corinthian making 5,767 blisters.

 

 

Lets stay in Serie A and for AC Milan we have a highly anticipated figure in Kaka, what a tremendous sculpt of the play maker and Corinthian knew demand would be high so made him the highest volume blister with 10,093. Also released for AC Milan is Andriy Shevhenko, with 8,305 blisters made.

 

 

Completing the Serie A set is Pavel Nedved in Juventus away kit, with Nedved being released in 3 series in a row! Production volume on this blister was 8,653.

 

 

The sole representative of Spain's La Liga is non other than Barcelona club legend Carles Puyol, with this being the very first Prostars release of Puyol, another highly requested figure with 5,592 blisters being produced.

 

 

Thierry Henry is in Arsenal away kit, with 7,014 blisters made, while for Chelsea we have an all new sculpt of Frank Lampard, a much improved sculpt i might add, with 5,404 blisters made and a new sculpt in team mate Damien Duff, with 5,764 blisters.

 

 

Corinthian made a new sculpt of Steven Gerrard, a very fine sculpt and an interesting Corinthian fact is that this is the only time Gerrard appeared for Liverpool in a regular ProStars Series, with 4,513 blisters produced.

 

 

Manchester United fans were treated to 2 first time sculpts, as we get Tim Howard and Louis Saha in United home kits, with this being the only series release of Howard while we would get another series release of Saha in Series 36. Production wise Corinthian made 4,865 of Howard and 5,949 Saha Blisters.

 

 

The Blue half of Manchester was also represented by an all new sculpt of Nicholas Anelka in Manchester City home kit, we first saw Anelka back in Series 2 and this version would be the final ProStars release of Anelka, with Corinthian making 3,604 blisters.

 

 

Toon fans get Alan Shearer in Newcastle United away kit, with 4,505 blisters, with Spurs fans having a first time sculpt and only time sculpt in Fredi Kanoute, with 3,985 blisters. Completing the English Premier League contingent is Juan Pablo Angel for Aston Villa, with the Colombian scoring 16 league goals that season, Corinthian making 3,068 blisters.

 

 

Completing the line up is the figure produced in the lowest volume which is Celtic defender Dianbobo Balde, this would be the only regular ProStars release with Corinthian making just 2,338 blisters.

 

 

In total Corinthian made 89,415 blisters for Series 25 Stars Of The Season 2003/4, which was the highest since series 21, with an average blister production of 5,588 per figure.

 

 

Corinthian produced 2 special redemption figures for Series 25 Stars Of The Season 2003/4, which are Steven Gerrard for Liverpool and Frank Lampard for Chelsea, both in their respective club away kits. Collectors were able to directly purchase the redemption figures, which were priced at £5 and came in clear sachet with a non numbered collector card, you could still collect the tokens and claim the redemption figures that way.

 

 

Series 25 Stars Of The Season 2003/4 was made available to Collector Club members at Gold and Platinum level at the 2004 Corinthian Convention which took place at Villa Park on the 29th & 30th May, and available from collector centres and Corinthian Direct a week later. Blisters priced at £3 each and for the very first time Corinthian made the series available in a case assortment, which contained all 16 blisters plus the 2 redemption sachets, which were included free with each case assortment. Included in each pack was the figures collector card and Corinthian ran a free redemption figure offer, with 8 tokens needed to claim one of the special redemption figures.

 

 

Along with the regular blister packs, Corinthian produced something special called the Platinum Pack, these were produced in much lower numbers and not available for direct sale, they were given away free for money spent with Corinthian Direct. The figures are identical to those in the standard blister but are on a Silver base and assigned a PP (Platinum Pack) collector code, which was the same code as the PRO version, with the figure then placed on a specially designed Platinum Pack blister card, coming with collector card stating it was produced in quantities no higher 360.
