SERIES 21

ProStars Series 21 saw Corinthian make another improvement to their product, each blister pack now came with an individually numbered collector card, which stated how many were produced, this made every blister unique and further enhanced the collectable aspect of the blisters.

David Beckham once again changed his hair style which meant Corinthian needed to product a new sculpt, not that they ever needed an excuse to produce another Beckham. This Beckham was the highest produced in this series, with 21,634 blisters made which actually accounts for around 20% of the entire series production run!

 

 

ProStars Series 21 made Corinthian history as it was the very first series to feature a player from Fulham, with Japanese icon Junichi Inamoto having a new sculpt made, with Corinthian producing 16,564 blisters, the second highest in this series.

 

 

Arsenal fans had a first time sculpt to collect in Brazil midfielder Edu with Corinthian making 3,748 blisters, his only other ProStars release would be as part of the Collector Club Special Edition series. Chelsea also had a first time sculpt as we see promising forward Carlton Cole, with 3,292 blisters made, this would be the only figure Corinthian made of Carlton Cole.

 

 

For Aston Villa we have Moustapha Hadji in away kit, the sculpt being the same as released in Series 19, with Corinthian making 2,536 blisters. El Hadji Diouf makes his ProStars debut, with 4,822 blisters being produced of the Senegalese international forward.

 

 

There are 2 figures for Tottenham Hotspur, we have Teddy Sheringham in away kit with 3,916 blisters and Simon Davies in Spurs home kit, with this first time sculpt having 3,076 blisters produced. For Manchester United we have Diego Forlan in away kit, sculpt being the same as seen in Series 18, with 4,408 blisters made.

 

 

Celtic and Rangers have one figure each, for Celtic we have Henrik Larsson with 5,296 blisters and Peter Lovenkrands for Rangers with just 2,158 blisters, the lowest production run of Series 21.

 

 

There are 3 figures from Italy' Serie A, for Juventus we have a first time sculpt in Gianluca Zambrotta, Corinthian making 6,418 blisters, and for AC Milan we have Clarence Seedorf with 5,782 blisters and first time sculpt Jon Dahl Tomasson with 6,076 blisters, those volumes show the popularity of Serie A during this period, especially in Japan.

 

 

Gaizka Mendieta is in Barcelona home kit with 4,546 blisters and the series is completed by Rivaldo in Brazil home kit, with 7,246 blisters produced.  In total Corinthian made 101,518 blisters for ProStars Series 21.

 

 

Something to mention is that while the blisters came with individually numbered collector cards, the figures were also available from Corinthian Direct and sold as 'figure with card' in a clear sachet priced at £2.50, these collector cards were not individually numbered and had the figure image on both sides, the same style as the previous series. For those who collect the collector cards this means there are 2 sets to collect, with the ones found in the sachets being vastly more difficult to locate.

 

 

Corinthian produced 2 special redemption figures for Series 21, which see Simon Davies in Tottenham Hotspur away kit and Diego Forlan in Manchester United third kit. From this series onwards, collectors were able to directly purchase the redemption figures, which were priced at £5 and came in clear sachet with a non numbered collector card, you could still collect the tokens and claim the redemption figures that way. No platinum packs were made for the redemption figures and Corinthian did not state how many were produced.

 

 

Series 21 was released on the 24th March 2003, with blisters priced at £3 each and you could also order the figures from Corinthian Direct as figure and card in sachet for £2.49 with the collector cards in the clear sachet being non numbered. Included in each pack was the figures collector card and Corinthian ran a free redemption figure offer, with 8 tokens needed to claim one of the special redemption figures.

 

 

Along with the regular blister packs, Corinthian produced something special called the Platinum Pack, these were produced in much lower numbers and not available for direct sale, they were given away free for money spent with Corinthian Direct. The figures are identical to those in the standard blister but are on a Silver base and assigned a PP (Platinum Pack) collector code, which was the same code as the PRO version, with the figure then placed on a specially designed Platinum Pack blister card, coming with collector card stating it was produced in quantities no higher 360.
