PATRICK MBOMA SPECIAL EDITION
Corinthian figures were popular all over the world, with collecting being especially high in Japan, so it came as no surprise that they produced a range of specials specifically for the Japanese market.

African legend Patrick Mboma was sculpted for the first time, a figure which is a particular favourite of mine, a very menacing sculpt and really captured the players features. Mboma is in home and away kit for Cameroon, with 5,600 hone blisters being made but only 3,200 away kit.

It was unsure for a while as to what J-League kit Mboma would be painted in, however it was eventually decided that he would be in the home and away kit of Vissel Kobe (he only played 10 games for the club) and Corinthian produced 4,000 in home kit and 2,400 in away kit.

Corinthian did also produce a master model of Mboma in the kit of Tokyo Verdy, however that would remain unreleased.

Corinthian always did all they could to try and ensure and product released outside the UK would also be made available to UK collectors, however due to licensing issues it was not possible for Mboma in Vissel Kobe kits to be released outside Japan.
Corinthian did manage to acquire 500 blisters of Mboma in Cameroon home and away kit, they were not available for direct purchase though, you received one for free by spending over £50 with Corinthian direct, with 1 figure being made available in the promotion each month. They were made available as follows:

1st May 2005 - Mboma Cameroon Home
1st June 2005 - Stojkovic Serbia Montenegro Home
1st July 2005 - Mboma Cameroon Away
1st August 2005 - Stojkovic Serbia Montenegro Away

All 4 Patrick Mboma blister packs were released in Japan from April 2005, with all 4 blisters coming with an individually numbered collector card.
