NAKATA SPECIAL EDITION

Corinthian were asked by their Japanese distributor 'New Wave' to produce some special edition figures that would only be sold in Japan, with the figures selected being released in the later part of 2001.

Hidetoshi Nakata was quite literally idolised in his native Japan with his Corinthian figures proving incredibly popular, so it was an obvious choice to use him as a special edition figure for the Japanese market. The facial sculpt of Nakata is the same as we saw in ProStars Series 2 but he is on a new body pose, with him painted in Roma home and away kits as worn for the 2001/02 season.

The blister pack were sold exclusively in Japan, however Corinthian did manage to acquire the rights to have 500 of each in clear sachet with collector card, making these available to collector club members as part of their 'Collector Club Introduction Scheme'

The scheme worked that for every member you recommended to join you would receive one of these special edition figures in clear sachet. If you introduced a member at Silver level you got Nakata in Roma home kit, Gold level you received Figo Ballon D'Or, and if they joined at Platinum level you received Nakata in Roma away kit. Corinthian ran this promotion from the September 2001 until 31st January 2002.

The figures were released in Blister Pack and came with collector card, with the 2 Nakata also being in clear sachet with collector card.
