KASHIMA ANTLERS SPECIAL EDITION

Corinthian were asked by their Japanese distributor to produce a set of ProStars exclusively for the Japanese market, with this series featuring 4 players in the home and away kit of Kashima Antlers.

 

 

All 4 players selected are Brazilian born and were brand new sculpts. Leonardo is without doubt the most famous of the 4, this was a new sculpt and in my opinion the best one Corinthian produced, it would be used again in ProStars Classics Series 4, with him painted in the AC Milan home kit.

The other 3 are all first time sculpts and would never be released again, those are Alcindo, Bismarck and Jorginho. Due to licencing issues Corinthian were unable to acquire stock to sell to UK collectors, all stock was sold solely in Japan with the figures being released in the early part of 2006.

Production volume was relatively low and differed for each figure, Alcindo home had 4,000 while the away half of that with just 2,000. The home kit of Leonardo had 4,000 and the away 3,000, while Jorginho home had 4,000 and away just 2,000. Bismarck had 4,000 home blisters made but only 3,000 away.

This is a truly superb set of figures, the sculpts are incredibly detailed and the kit replication is amongst the finest in the ProStars range, with a very smart blister pack design too. It can be problematic acquiring the entire set, very little stock ever made it over to the UK, your best chance of obtaining them is via Madbooth in Japan or via collectors. in Thailand.

The figures were released as single blister packs and came issued with an individually numbered collector card, that also featured the players autograph. No Platinum Packs were produced for this series.
