CLUB GOLD
CLUB EDITION 2001

Corinthian launched the Club Gold Club Edition 2001 set in mid September. The original Club Gold Club Edition range was; by the companies admission, was not an over whelming success, so there were reservations of how this new set would be received.

There was a great demand for the set from stockists overseas, so much so that Corinthian had to set aside stock purely for the UK collectors, with 500 complete sets being made available. The figures were sold in each players respective club shop and also from Corinthian direct.

​

 

It has to be mentioned that the Andriy Shevchenko in Ukraine kit was only available as part of the complete set, it was not possible to order him as a single, only as part of the set of 20 which Corinthian were selling for £55. Jody Morris in Chelsea away kit and Clarence Seedorf in Holland home kit were also very low on individual stock.

There are some excellent away kit figures which i feel contributed to the popularity and appeal

of the set, away kit highlights for me are Luis Enrique, Silvinho, Carl Cort and Mikael Silvestre. The 3 manager figures proved popular, those being Glenn Hoddle, Martin O'Neil and David O'Leary and we got a new sculpt of goal keeper David James.

My personal favourite from set has to be Carsten Jancker, it is an excellent sculpt, complete with ear ring and it would never again be released by Corinthian.

​

 

There are 20 figures in the set, all of which were released in a window box, on a Gold base and coming with collector card.
